Surry Hills Terrace, designed by Second Edition is a Robert Plumb Collective collaboration where multiple arms worked together to develop a modern reimaging of the traditional terrace typology, enhancing light and maximising functional space.

With custom joinery and furniture by Cranbrook Workshop, timber lined transitional spaces and hallways visually interconnect to the minimalistic joinery, providing a functional and rich warmth to the home. Ceiling height windows flood the living spaces with abundant natural light, maximising airflow and ventilation, a successful resolution to common issues found in Victorian terrace layouts.

A bespoke staircase seamlessly addresses the gap between old and new. The original handrail is restored to function in playful juxtaposition with the contemporary timber staircase. A careful junction between old and new, Surry Hills Terrace delicately responds to existing materials and context throughout its modern revision, ensuring sustainable design for modern living.
