Set within a heritage listed 1939 Art Deco apartment in Potts Point, Patchwork introduces a new layer that is both deliberate and light in its touch. Designed by Other Architects, the original high ceilings, parquet floors and heritage façade is playfully reimagined with colourful interior textures and reclaimed materials.

Salvaged marble plays a defining role in the project’s alterations. Offcuts once have been rescued from landfill and re-composed within the space; forming a new hearth for the fireplace, inlaid floor borders, shelves and textural patches that respond directly to areas of repair and earlier alteration. The various reclaimed stones, each with their own provenances and patinas becomes an assembly of discarded fragments.

Patchwork is a resourceful class 2 intervention that carefully respects to its heritage context whilst providing a new characterful interior that is warm, functional and mindful.
