The Pool House in Sydney’s Randwick, by architects Buck and Simple, takes a pleasingly elementary approach. A symmetrical pitched roof and retractable façade enhances the idea of an indoor, outdoor space for relaxing while engaging with the pool and the natural surrounds. A restrained palette of timber and stone is used sparingly in this 49 metre square space that becomes something of a sanctuary, a calm multi-purpose zone with an interior by Briony Fitzgerald Design, that connects with the landscape by Dangar Barin Smith.
